Shopian, Aug 19 (KNO): An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Molu Chitragam area of Shopian district on Wednesday.
An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a militant was killed in an encounter that broke out today afternoon.
The official said that acting on a tip-off a joint team of Police, 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. “As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter,” the official said, adding that “one militant was killed in the initial firing.”
He said after extensive searches, no other militant was found in the area after which the operation was called off—(KNO)
